Microneedling (Dermaroller)
Microneedling (collagen induction therapy) is a skin treatment using a Dermaroller to prick the skin with tiny needles which induces the formation of collagen. It is an effective treatment for improving the skin tone and firmness and reducing fine lines, acne scarring and sun damage. Deeper depth needling on the body can improve cellulite and stretch marks.
Microneedling works by administering controlled injury to a chosen depth. A Dermaroller is a device that has small needles and is rolled over the face to create controlled punctures, forcing the skin to react to the trauma and regenerate. This process induces collagen production. The production of collagen is essential to skin rejuvenation because collagen acts as the scaffold of the skin, giving it strength and elasticity.
The depth of the needling will vary depending on the specific needs of the patient. Deeper scars for example will benefit from deeper penetration whereas superficial needling may often only be required for a general healthy glow.
Dermaroller can be used on the face, neck, décolletage and also on other areas of the body for the treatment of stretch marks and cellulite.
